CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- (CLARKSVILLENOW) Clarksville Academy, senior girls’ basketball standout, Lakeisha Phillips, signed with the University of the South Thursday morning.
Phillips led the Cougars in rebounds (8.7) and blocks (26), while second on the team in scoring (10.7), field goal percentage (40%), and steals (61) during her senior campaign. Her rebounding totals were among the top in Middle Tennessee.
“I am tremendously proud & excited for Lakeisha. She has worked extremely hard in her two years at Clarksville Academy to improve her skills in addition to her already God given ability. She has stayed focused and driven throughout this past year during recruiting and finding the right “home” for the next 4 years. I believe Lakeisha has made an exceptional choice for herself not only for her collegiate basketball career but academically with what is going to set her up to be successful after graduation in life. No doubt Keisha is going to shine,” said Clarksville Academy Head Girls Basketball Carrie Daniels about her excellent post player.
Phillips received numerous honors during the 2017-18 season including: Division II Class A District 4 All-District Team, Leaf-Chronicle All-Area Third Team, Sgt. York Christmas Invitational All-Tournament Team, ESPN Clarksville Athlete of the Week, TNSports360.com Super 15 Team.
Phillips, a two-year starter, has showed great leadership for the Clarksville Academy Girls Basketball program on and off the court. Off the court, Phillips is a member of National Honor Society, Senior Class President, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Mayor’s Youth Council, Key Club, and Clarksville Academy’s Honor Council. Phillips has played AAU Basketball for the Tennessee Platinum.
Phillips is the daughter of Arthur and Melanie Phillips. Her brother Chris Phillips also attends Clarksville Academy. She is the granddaughter of Arthur and Barbara Phillips, Johnny and Loretta Catchings, and her late grandparents Emilie Koenig and Albert Weems. She is niece of Willy and Carmen Muth.
