CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville police have released additional information about a four-vehicle crash that caused significant traffic backups on Fort Campbell Blvd. Monday afternoon.
The crash occurred May 14 around 4 p.m. at the intersection of Airport Rd. Police said a man driving a Ford Taurus was traveling south on Fort Campbell Blvd., crossed into the northbound lanes for an unknown reason, and collided with a GMC Envoy. The Envoy spun and collided with a Toyota Yaris that was also traveling northbound. In the meantime, the driver of the Taurus tried to gain control of his vehicle, but was unsuccessful and crashed head-on into a GMC Acadia traveling north on Fort Campbell Blvd.
There were no extremely serious injuries. The driver of the Taurus was taken by LifeFlight in stable condition to Vanderbilt and was treated and released on the morning of the 15th. The other drivers were all taken by ambulance to local area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
Each vehicle only had a driver and no passengers. Investigators said all the drivers (1 male, 3 females) were wearing seat belts and their airbags deployed, which likely helped reduce the injuries to the drivers.
The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed at this time. The lead investigator is Officer Szczerbiak.
