CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- (CLARKSVILLENOW) All three Clarksville area Rotary Clubs presented a check for $10,000 for the Montgomery County Imagination Library program.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free books to children from birth to 5 years old.
According to Clarksville- Montgomery County Library Director Martha Hendricks, each book costs roughly two dollars to produce and ship. Half of the cost must be provided by the county participating in the program.
The program has been offered in Montgomery County since 2006. Currently 9,200 books are distributed in the Clarksville area each month. This means that the Clarksville-Montgomery County Library must raise roughly $10,000 each month to provide books for these children.
“This donation is hugely important. It’s going to help supply 10,000 books,” Hendricks said.
Donations to the Montgomery County Imagination Library can be made through the Imagination Library website.
