CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee congratulates Jaylen Palmer for earning the Girl Scout Gold Award – Girl Scouts’ highest award since 1980.
Palmer’s ultimate goal was to assist the Hope Pregnancy Center in aiding the families of unexpected children in Clarksville, Tenn. Palmer designed and created 75 Touch, Affection and Gift (TAG) blankets. The blankets are fun, small, machine washable and portable ways for babies to explore different textures and colors without aggressive sounds. Palmer distributed literature on her project detailing how to make TAG blankets and their benefits.
By earning the Girl Scout Gold Award, Palmer has become a community leader. Her accomplishments reflect leadership and citizenship skills that set her apart.
“Earning the Girl Scout Gold Award is truly a remarkable achievement, and this young woman exemplifies leadership in all its forms,” said Agenia Clark, president and CEO of Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee. “She saw a need in her community and around the world and took action. Her extraordinary dedication, perseverance and leadership are making a difference in her community.”
Gold Award Girl Scouts are making the world a better place. These young women are inspiring leaders whose Gold Award projects are making waves in the areas of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics), education, agriculture, medicine and more on a local, national and global level.
Palmer will receive her award at the 2018 Salute to Outstanding Leadership Awards ceremony on Sunday, April 29 at Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena.
