CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – UPDATE: The road is now clear and reopened as of 4:05 p.m.

Major traffic backups are expected Tuesday afternoon due to downed AT&T lines in the area of College and Kraft streets.

There are lines down in the road on College Street and the area between Red River Street and Kraft Street is shut down to through traffic.

Clarksville Police Department spokesman Jim Knoll said traffic heading toward downtown from Wilma Rudolph Blvd.(North on 79) will be diverted onto Kraft Street. Traffic on Kraft Street driving toward College will only be able to make a left heading toward the mall area (toward 79 South).

If you are driving down College heading toward the mall area (toward 79 South), then you will be diverted off at Red River Street.
