CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville police are warning the public about a recent phone scam that could lead to break-ins.
Police said the scam has popped up all over the country.
The scammer calls the victim and says a FedEx package has been damaged, so an address must be verified. The caller uses that information to find out whether or not you are home so they can potentially break into your residence.
The scammers are able to spoof an actual FedEx number that makes the call appear legitimate.
The public is urged not to give out any identifying information over the phone. If you receive a call like this, you do not need to report it police, according to the department’s Facebook post.
