NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Republican U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn’s campaign says that anyone who thinks she can’t win the general election in her U.S. Senate bid is a “plain sexist pig.”
Campaign spokeswoman Andrea Bozek released the statement Tuesday in response to multiple media reports that some Republicans are encouraging U.S. Sen. Bob Corker to back out of his plans to retire.
Bozek noted that several polls have found Blackburn leading ex-Democratic Gov. Phil Bredesen in a potential general election Senate matchup.
