HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – At least one person was killed in a crash on I-24 in Christian County Monday morning.

Kentucky State Police said the crash involved multiple vehicles on I-24 westbound near mile marker 79. at 9:50 a.m.

There was one fatality. At least seven others were injured and taken to area hospitals.

The crash caused widespread debris and smoke that closed lanes in both directions for much of the day. Eastbound lanes were re-opened late Monday, while westbound lanes remained closed until 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.
