CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Most of middle Tennessee, and all of Montgomery County remains under a Winter Storm Warning through 9 p.m. Friday.
Freezing rain and sleet have already fallen this morning, causing slippery roads and treacherous parking lots and sidewalks.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says county roads are mostly ice, so stay home if you can.
There have been reports of over 30 crashes in the Clarksville-Montgomery County area so far, mostly due to vehicles sliding off the roads.
Bridges and overpasses are usually the first to be covered in ice. Officials stress that if you must be on the roads, please drive slowly.
As of 3 p.m., the precipitation has transitioned to all snow. Up to three inches of snow will likely fall throughout the afternoon and evening. Another half inch of snow may fall before midnight.
