CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville police have arrested a man who allegedly stole property from a deceased individual and tried to sell it on the Letgo app.
On Jan. 1, police received a call from a man who said he found items for sale on Letgo.com which had been stolen from his deceased father’s property on Lealand Drive. The property had been vacant for several months.
A neighbor called to inform the man that a trailer was being loaded with tools and furniture from the vacant residence. The victim then checked online and found the stolen property at Letgo.com for sale by Joe Bezzy.
Police determined Joe Bezzy was actually Joseph Earl Powell. Officers set up surveillance operation and saw Powell taking a floor lamp and multiple kerosene lanterns from a shed on the Lealand Drive property to his Monarch Lane residence.

Powell was taken into custody at his home and was also in possession of marijuana at the time. When officers searched his home, they found additional stolen property.
Powell, 32, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail Thursday and charged with burglary and simple possession. His bond was set at $60,000. Additional charges are pending.
