CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle on the 41A Bypass Monday evening.
Clarksville police said the pedestrian, identified as 69-year-old David Gibbs, was crossing the Bypass near Old Ashland City Rd. around 5:45 p.m. He was struck by a Hyundai driven by a man in his 50s when he walked into the path of the vehicle.
Gibbs was transported to Tennova where he died from his injuries.
Police said based on information gathered so far, no charges will be filed.
This is the 13th vehicle fatality in Clarksville in 2017 and the second traffic fatality of the day in Montgomery County. An earlier crash on Dover Rd. claimed the life of an Oak Grove man.
