CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Economic Development Council (EDC) announced that its Executive Director, Cal Wray, resigned Friday morning.
Wray, who joined the organization in April 2014, will continue to serve through January 19th as he wraps up some ongoing projects.
“I have enjoyed working alongside the EDC’s team of economic development professionals for the last few years. This community’s public-private economic development partnership is extremely unique. It has been a pleasure to work with the Aspire Clarksville Foundation to make the community’s strategic plans become reality,” Wray said in a statement.
Aspire Clarksville is the platform for private businesses to fund many of the EDC’s economic growth initiatives.
Wray was tapped to be the next Executive Director of the Augusta Economic Development Authority in Augusta, Georgia.
Wray came to the community in 2014 as the Executive Director of the EDC and the Aspire Clarksville Foundation. During his tenure, he helped the Foundation achieve a record fundraising campaign of $4.2 million dollars and assisted the Industrial Development Board in landing the Google and LG projects. In 2015, Wray was named one of North America’s Top 50 Economic Developers by Consultant Connect.
“Cal will be missed; we wish him and his family well. The Executive Committee will begin work immediately to identify the best Executive Director to lead the EDC and Foundation through the final months of the current strategic plan and the approaching update,” said Louisa Cooke, current Chairperson of the EDC.
“Cal’s contribution to our community’s current successes are significant. Aspire Investors wish him and his family the best,” added Steve Kemmer, current Chairman of the Aspire Clarksville Foundation.
“My family and I are extremely grateful for the way we were embraced by the Clarksville community and will cherish memories of our time here”, said Wray.
