CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) More than 150 Clarksville families have an extra reason to be thankful this holiday season after receiving Thanksgiving baskets as part of the holiday assistance effort by Clarksville area realtors and builders.
“This is our third year of doing this as a way to give back to the community,” said Toniann Thompson of the Havens & Thompson Group of Keller Williams.
To expand the effort this year, Thompson recruited other realtors, builders, title companies, clients and family members.
“It’s been a community effort to make sure local families have what they need for the holiday,” said Thompson.
Thompson and around a dozen volunteers gathered at the Keller Williams building Tuesday night to pack food boxes which lined the floor and walls, creating a maze that helpers had to step around to greet grateful families.
Urban Ministries provided a list of families and individuals who expressed a need for assistance and are now looking forward to a traditional holiday meal.
Food items from Kroger, Hilltop Market and Food Lion were paid for through donations from Clarksville Area Realtors, F&M Bank, Stewart Title and Lyons Pest Control.
Volunteers included fellow realtors Cherie Armstrong, Jennifer Collins, Valerie Dirks, Teresa Ferguson, John Griffis, Dorothy Havens, Amber Horton, Marion Jewell, Liz Myers, Cassie Patterson, Camille Santora, Becky Seay, Angela Whelton and Kim Wyrauch.
