NASHVILLE, Tenn. – At least one person is dead following a small plane crash Tuesday morning at Nashville International Airport.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority said the accident happened around 9:15 a.m. on Runway 2 Center and involved a Cessna-172 single engine plane. The runway is currently closed although the airport was not experiencing any delays.
It was not immediately clear if the plane crashed on take off or during landing or how many people were on board.
Multiple sources confirmed to News 2 that at least one person died.
Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority emergency personnel, Metro police, Metro fire and the Metro Office of Emergency Management responded to the accident.
The NTSB is now investigating.
