CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Montgomery County Historical Society has announced an upcoming âHistory/Mystery Cemetery Tourâ at Riverview Cemetery.
Due to popular demand, a second date has been added. Tours for Oct. 21 are sold out, but you can now book tours for Sunday, October 22 from 4-6 p.m.
This walking tour will be led by Carolyn Stier Ferrell, local historian, author, story-teller, and authority on cemetery iconography. Carolyn will share some historical facts and a few mysterious stories surrounding the cemetery in keeping with the Halloween season.

“This cemetery is unique in that it is the original cemetery to Clarksville. It is the old city cemetery,” Ferrell said. “We recommend it for adults, not for children. Not so much that it will be scary, but we are sensitive to children.”
Ferrell said she will be dressed in a full black antebellum-period mourning outfit to match the theme of the event.
Call to reserve tickets at (931) 220-2627 or purchase at the main office of First Advantage Bank, 1430 Madison Street. Tickets are $15.
More Halloween events at HALLOWEEN HEADQUARTERS
This is an outdoor walking tour over uneven terrain, and not appropriate for small children. In the event of rain, ticketholders will meet inside the L&N Train Station on 10th Street for a discussion and visuals of the same topics.
Carolyn will also have some of her books for sale during the event. Light refreshments will be provided.
Come and explore one of Clarksvilleâs oldest cemeteries and learn about its âresidents.â
