FORT CAMPBELL, Ky.- (CLARKSVILLENOW) The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell Survivor Outreach Services will hold an opening ceremony for Military Survivor Appreciation Week and display more than 7,000 boots on the lawn of the Division Headquarters, Sept. 11.

Each boot will represent a fallen service member who has died on active duty since Sept. 11, 2001, regardless of cause, branch of service or location of loss.

The boots have been collected from military service members across Fort Campbell and abroad. Each honors the memories and sacrifices of brave men and women who gave their lives while serving their country.

The ceremony also officially opens the boot display to the community, who may view the display from Sept. 11 until Sept. 18. Information tables at the display will be manned from 8 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. every day for anyone who wants to learn more about the boots or needs assistance in finding their loved one.
