CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The reopening of a portion of Oakland Road has been delayed until the afternoon of Saturday, Aug. 12, according to TN Dept. of Transportation (TDOT).
TDOT spokesperson Kathryn Schulte said the contractor assigned to the project was unable to get the road opened by the anticipated Aug. 7 date due to weather.
Schulte said the project manager has been in touch with officials regarding the delay and the school system has an alternative bus route plan in place.
Oakland Road has been closed for several weeks from Meriwether Road to SR 13 (Guthrie Highway) in order to re-align the roadway for safety reasons.
The Oakland Road re-alignment project was designed by Montgomery County and the construction is being managed by TDOT. It ties into a State Industrial Access project serving Hankook Tire, which includes widening Guthrie Highway to five lanes from Cracker Barrel Drive to International Boulevard.
