RISING FAWN, Ga. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – On the western edge of Lookout Mountain is Cloudland Canyon State Park , about 3 hours south (184 miles) of Clarksville, TN and home to many gorgeous waterfalls.

The Waterfalls Trail begins at the main overlook. Most of the trail consists of gravel, and with a 600-step staircase, the trail is considered a strenuous hike, which can take up to 90 minutes to complete. Cherokee Falls is .3 miles from the trailhead – Hemlock Falls, at the bottom of the canyon, appears at .5 miles. (both pictured below)
Cloudland Canyon State Park does have camping and lodging options. There are 16 rental cottages, 73 tent, trailer and RV sites, 30 walk-in camp sites, and 11 back country camp sites for backpackers. You can make reservations here, or you could easily make a day-trip and just pay for parking.
Park Hours: 7 a.m.–10 p.m.
$5 Parking
Hike: Strenuous (600 steps to canyon)
Pets: They’re allowed, would advise against because the (metal grate) steps are harsh on their feet.
Kids: There were lots of kids swimming at Cherokee Falls, but would suggest 10 and up.
What to bring: Hiking shoes, water shoes, water, snacks, towels, and bug-spray.
