Fort Campbell,KY. (CLARKSVILLENOW) Soldiers with the 3rd Brigade Combat Team “Rakkasans” and the 101st Sustainment Brigade “Lifeliners” of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) were greeted in a Welcome Home Ceremony Monday afternoon at Campbell Army Airfield. The troops were returning from a nine-month deployment to Kosovo. The soldiers conducted peace support operations with U.S. NATO partners to help provide a safe and secure environment for the people of Kosovo.
Captain Robert Boyles said this when asked about being deployed and then coming home. “There’s nothing like it. There’s just nine-months of building anticipation wanting to be home with family and loved ones. Until you go through it you can’t really describe it,” said Boyles.
One of the highlights of the ceremony came when Specialist Adam Jason Lentz Jr. got down on one knee and proposed to Taylor Steed, who promptly said yes.
As in the recent returns, the soldiers flew into Nashville and were brought to Fort Campbell by bus, due to construction work taking place at the airfield.
