CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Arts for Hearts Clarksville wants to bring more public art to Clarksville and they are doing it in a fun and unusual way.
“Our mission is to inspire creativity and put art in the hands of people. We are doing that through the Clarksville Rocks Kindness Project, which is modeled after the national Kindness Rocks Project. I love the way it’s about community bonding, getting people outside, seeing our community in a different way and spending time creating art. We spread art and kindness in our community,” Rita Arancibia, co-founder of Arts for Hearts Clarksville said.
The project is centered around hiding and finding rocks painted by community members. People paint everything on the stones, from inspirational messages to landscapes to funny faces. Like the National Kindness Rocks Project, the Clarksville project believes that the world is in need of a little more peace, love, understanding and art. Art like kindness is for everyone. They are a perfect math. The simple act of sharing art and spreading kindness along the way makes a big impact in communities-one colorful rock at a time. Arts for Hearts Clarksville is challenging everyone to contribute in a small way by painting and dropping inspirational rocks around the community.
Whether you’re painting rocks, hiding rocks or finding rocks, visit Clarksville Rocks Kindness Facebook page and share your stories.
Arts for Hearts Clarksville will be hosting a fundraiser on August 19 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Riverview Inn in downtown Clarksville. The rock painting make + take it art event, “Clarksville Rocks the Great Eclipse” will help raise funds for community outreach art programming. The proceeds will be shared with After Deployment, a local non-profit group that supports healing through art for veterans experiencing PTSD.
