CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Rossview Middle School teacher Rachel Hamrick has played many roles over her lifetime: soldier, single mom, teacher, and most recently, elite Spartan racer.

Last year in the world of Spartan obstacle course racing, Hamrick placed 1st or 2nd in five of her seven races. She also took time out of her busy schedule to give to her students by cosponsoring a successful Spartan after school program with Spartan SGX (Spartan Group EXercise) Coach Storm Sims.

“Rachel is a living example to her three beautiful daughters and students at Rossview about not giving up on your dreams and continually setting goals for yourself,” Sims said.

This racing season Rachel continues her upward movement by breaking into the top 10 Elite spartan racers in the world among women and men. She is also ranked #1 in her age bracket for women.

Last year Hamrick went to the Spartan World Championship in Lake Tahoe, California and is hoping to return again this year to be able to compete against the best Spartan racers in the world.
