CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville residents are urged to be on alert this summer while spending time outdoors in public places.
A woman recently emailed ClarksvilleNow.com to share her story about being robbed at a public pool this week.
The victim said she brought her two children under two years old for a dip in the baby pool at Swan Lake Sports Complex on Sanders Rd. She said she left her purse in the bottom of a stroller and covered it with other items.
“A woman with four children was standing really close to my stroller, and I didn’t think anything of it until I realized how quickly she came and went,” the victim said.
When she got up to check, she discovered that her wallet was gone.
“She used her kids to make me doubt my gut. It’s that time of year when the thieves are out to take advantage of vulnerable mothers, apparently,” the victim said.
According to a Clarksville police report, the woman’s wallet, containing cash and multiple credit/debit cards, was in fact reported stolen. The report says the victim described the potential suspect as a black woman who is five feet tall and about 130 pounds.
Residents are urged to keep a close eye on their belongings and secure valuable items in a locked vehicle if possible.
