NAHSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Swedish furniture company IKEA will announce plans this week to open a Nashville location, according to WKRN News 2.

It will be located at the up-and-coming 300-acre development between Cane Ridge and Old Franklin roads in Antioch.

The property was sold by the Lee Beaman family to Oldacre McDonald, which owns that large piece of Antioch property.

Crews are expected to break ground in early 2019 and the store will open in the summer of 2020.

The Nashville store is expected to bring 250 new jobs and will offer 1,100 parking spaces and will include a supervised play area for children.

“We look forward to contributing to the economic growth here in Nashville and Davidson County,” officials said during the official news conference.

There have long been on and off again efforts to bring IKEA to the city for years, including trying to get them to buy property at the old Bellevue mall.

Currently there are 43 IKEA stores in the U.S.

It will be the second store to open in Tennessee. The first opened in Memphis last fall.
