CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A group of Clarksville Academy students recently donated their time and creative efforts to decorate the Montgomery County Animal Care and Control building with colorful murals.

The Beautification Challenge Based Learning group from Clarksville Academy (facilitated by Mr. Robert Neizke and Mrs. Lauren Drake) partnered with Animal Care and Control to create murals for the facility.

Students in the group submitted designs that were presented and approved by Animal Control Director Jeanette Farrell. They visited the site and transferred the designs to scale.

Madison Street Lowe’s manager Nathan Clark and Lisa Farmer (Lowe’s) assisted by donating the supplies for the project.

Farrell was grateful for the students’ interest in the project. She said because the building is plain and built into an embankment, it was easily missed by passersby. Now that will no longer be an issue.

“We were so excited when Clarksville Academy approached us,” she said. “The students just did a phenomenal job at painting these murals. They put a lot of hard work into this; they worked on this for months and months.”

Visit Montgomery County Animal Care and Control at 616 N. Spring Street to see the mural for yourself and possibly find your new best friend.

Clarksville Academy’s Challenge Based Learning (CBL) program meets one Friday a month, transforming the classroom, and presenting “real life challenges” that yield “real life solutions”.
