CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Imagination Library presents a wonderful afternoon of family friendly entertainment featuring ventriloquist Jill Thatcher and wildlife biologist Bob Tarter.
This program is May 7 from 2-4 p.m. at Richview Middle School. A ticket to the program may be purchased from Lisa Maddox-Vinson or the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library for $12. Each ticket permits entry for a family of four and helps pay for a child to receive free books for a year through Imagination Library.
Jill Thatcher is a ventriloquist, puppeteer and songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee. Her performances include puppet characters which Jill has developed. Each puppet is a custom-made animal puppet, which Jill has found to be successful in communicating with children. Original songs are incorporated into the scripts Jill creates. Each script is carefully developed with extensive research and then scrutinized by education and entertainment professionals. Jill, who has been performing for audiences for over 15 years, reaches thousands of children and adults with her programs and puppets.
Bob Tarter, wildlife biologist and owner of National History Educational Company of the Midsouth, has offered and presented many varied wildlife exhibits since 2005. His exhibits are presented with elementary, middle school, and high school curriculum with foundations in biology, life science, geography, social studies, and even foreign languages.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, founded in 1995, is a book gifting organization that has mailed more than 85 million books to children in Australia, Belize, Canada, United Kingdom, and the United States. In participating communities, the program sends specially selected, high quality, age-appropriate books to registered children from birth until they start kindergarten. Dolly envisioned creating a lifelong love of reading in children, preparing them for school and inspiring them to dream.
