FORT CAMPBELL, KY. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Lacrosse is an up and coming sport in the region and when it comes to Fort Campbell, plans are underway to take a local team of soldiers and veterans to the “Shootout for Soldiers in Atlanta,” May 20 & 21.

Scott Banker, working to organize a team from Fort Campbell, said teams will play lacrosse for 24 hours straight from 7 p.m. Saturday until 7 p.m. Sunday. He added that the message is simple, to use lacrosse as a platform to support American veterans and foster community engagement.

They will also be accepting donations as the teams of veterans play and the money raised will support nonprofit organizations like “Semper Fi Fund” and “Lead the Way.” The event has raised over $1 million since the program began as it allows people to learn about lacrosse and help veterans at the same time.

Banker, who serves with the 3rd Brigade Combat Team “Rakkasans”, said they have been spreading the word about the Fort Campbell Lacrosse Team in hopes of getting more soldiers and veterans involved on Post as well as traveling to the “Shootout for Soldiers in Atlanta.”
