CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Montgomery County Veterans Coalition held its monthly meeting on February 15, 2017 at the Montgomery County Veterans Plaza.

Members discussed Veterans Day on the Hill, which took place on February 8, which they say was a huge success. Approximately 300 Veterans with 80 or 90 from Montgomery County attended the one day event.

Planning is still continuing for the “Welcome Home Veterans Celebration” scheduled for September 13-16, 2017. Registration packages for the event are available at visitclarksvilletn.com/welcomehome.

Presenter for the month was Debbie Fields of the Yellow Ribbon Fund organization. The Yellow Ribbon Fund is an organization dedicated to helping caregivers of services members who are wounded, ill or injured. Activities coordinated by the organization range from regular outings to self-care education.

Sherry Pickering, Executive Director of the Veterans Coalition, has submitted two grants on behalf of the Coalition to finance an official office space, paid staff positions and internships. In the meantime, a fundraiser for the Veterans Coalition is in progress.
