Clarksville, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Captains Mark and Sally Love would like to express their gratitude to the Clarksville community for making 2016 a great Christmas. “We were able to exceed our Red Kettle goal of $120,000 and provide a Merry Christmas to over 1,300 children,” says Captain Mark Love.

“The final Red Kettle total was $135,500 which was 47% above last year, so we want to thank everyone who put money in the kettle and everyone who volunteered to ring the bell at Christmas.”

“There were many wonderful volunteers who helped make our Angel Tree Program a success,” said Captain Sally Love. “From shoppers who adopted an Angel from the tree to workers who assembled bikes and processed gifts… we say, “Thank You!”

“Christmas donations fund the operation of our shelter all year long,” says Captain Love, “so even with a great Christmas, ongoing donations are needed to help people in need. Right now our shelter is over capacity and we have 16 children staying in our family units. The need is great and continues year round. Many sincere thanks to everyone who supports The Salvation Army.
“Thank you for helping us help others.”
