CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- Kenwood Middle School’s 7th graders completed a course in money management designed for students ages 8-18 in December.

The program is offered by a non-profit foundation out of Farmington Hills, MI, and facilitated by a local Clarksville resident and representative of the organization, Ms. Joi Wilson.

“The students learn money management skills that they will use for the rest of their lives,” says Ms. Wilson. “I am happy that I my company affords me the opportunity to educate our community and youth on such important topics of money and credit.”

The program is approximately 8 weeks long, and goes over subjects such as budgeting, savings goals, interest, banking and more. It also includes a 60-page donated workbook that allows practice of the educational topics presented. Not only did the students get to learn valuable information, as a reward they received a holiday themed pizza party and a graduation ceremony.

Although only one class participated this time, the school as a whole did not get left out. The Kenwood Middle School will also receive a significant monetary donation for participation in the program, which can be used for anything the school chooses.

Due to the success of the first program completion, Kenwood has been approved to continue the program in the 2nd semester of school for 3 more classes. Those classes will include both 7th and 8th grade students.
