CLARKSVILLE, TN– As a Partner in Education, TVA and CDE Lightband celebrate their partnership by presenting a donation of $1,000 to the CMCSS STEM Academy.

The donation was provided by TVA, while CDE Lightband provides volunteer hours, experience and assistance in and out of the classroom.

The presentation occurred during the 8th Grade Career Fair along with the replication of a substation and transmission of electricity to homes. The sophomore class of the STEM Academy at Kenwood High School completed this challenge the first nine weeks of school from the feedback and lessons their teachers received from their summer externship.

“We are proud of our partnership with TVA and CMCSS to help support the STEM program,” stated Brian Taylor, General Manager of CDE Lightband. “It is amazing what the students are learning in the classroom and the commitment the teachers have made to the program. The STEM program is building our leaders of the future and quite possibly our future employees.”

This will mark the fifth year of this partnership which includes hosting STEM Externships for teachers on-site at CDE Lightband, annual trip to TVA’s Cumberland Fossil Plant and providing experts for classroom demonstrations and presentations. Promoting Science Technology Engineering and Math to our students will lead to a stronger future and help build a better economy within Clarksville.
