Robert “Bob” Reece Gossett, age 85, of Clarksville, TN, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at his residence.
Bob was born August 4, 1931, in Charlotte, NC, to the late Marvin Gossett and Nina Pearl Davis Gossett. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Marvin H. Gossett, Charles D. Gossett, William Gossett; and sister, Nancy Morrow.
Bob was employed with Reynolds Metals Company for 37 years, as a supervisor and plant manager in Muscle Shoals and Sheffield, AL, and Richmond, VA. Bob and Marion retired to Clarksville, TN. Bob was a US Air Force veteran, during the Korean War. He served as Chairman of the Board at Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield, AL and as a volunteer for Junior Achievement and Gateway Medical Center. He was a member and in the choir at Sheffield First United Methodist Church and later a member of Madison Street United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer and was a big Alabama fan – Roll Tide!
Celebration of Life will be Saturday, November 19, at 11:00 AM, at Madison Street United Methodist Church, with Rev. Cliff Wright officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, November 19, from 9:30 AM until the hour of service, at the church. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marion Gossett; daughter, Lynn G. (Mike) Raby of Avon Lake, OH; and two grandchildren, Erin Raby and Katherine Raby.
Pallbearers will be Mike Raby, Albert Marks, Jimmy Orgain, Ben Stone, Charles Gossett, and Steve Gossett. Honorary pallbearers will be Horace Moncrief, Herb Barksdale, and Lester Erwin.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Horace and Vicki Moncrief, Annette Marks, Mandy Ellison, Lena and Jimmy Orgain, Charlotte Jolly, Bonnie and Brent Driggers, Louisa Hadley, and AseraCare Hospice.
