Fort Campbell, KY. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) There were plenty of smiles, hugs, and kisses inside Hangar 3 at Fort Campbell Saturday night as 251 soldiers were welcomed home from deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. The soldiers are with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Sustainment Brigade/2nd Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment.

They were returning from a nine-month deployment providing air defense for Bagram Airfield and multiple other locations using counter rocket artillery and mortar. Cheers from family and friends were heard at Campbell Army Airfield as the plane touched down, again when the door opened and the soldiers stepped off the plane and finally as they marched into the hangar.

Battalion Commander, Lt. Colonel James Reese was asked what it felt like to be back home at Fort Campbell. “Incredible, to see the families coming together like this after nine long months, and for me personally, I feel fulfilled. To be back with my family, I couldn’t ask for anything more, said Reese.
