Julia Wilcox Marks, age 87, died October 31, 2016 at her home.

A lifelong resident of Montgomery County, she was born November 6, 1928 in Clarksville, TN, to Robert Clive Wilcox and Julia Ermine Van Cleve Wilcox.

Julia was preceded in death by her husband Dempsey Hunter Marks.

She is survived by 3 children: Constance Marks Matlock (Phil) of Columbia, TN.; Julia Van Cleve Marks Meadows (Dan) of Port Royal; and Robert Clive Marks (Jene-Marie) of Spring Hill, TN. Julia is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Julia Wilcox Meadows Phares (Allyn), Robert Willis Meadows (Valerie), Corbin Marks Matlock Duncan, Hunter Lee Marks, Megan Meadows Jones (Steven), Robert Clive Marks, Jr., Dempsey Handly Marks, and Shadow Wyndham Marks. She leaves behind 4 great grandchildren: Robert Willis Meadows II, Ellie Suzanne Meadows, Paul Dempsey Duncan, and Livia Grey Jones. Milly, Julia’s loyal and beloved dog, also survives.

Julia was a 1946 graduate of Clarksville High School and attended DePauw University in Greencastle, IN. On August 26, 1948 she married Dempsey Hunter Marks. They made their home on the Marks Farm, where they shared their love of family, farming, and their land. Julia was affectionately known to family and friends as JuJu. She was an avid reader and had many interests, including history, genealogy, and architecture. Her greatest joy was the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. JuJu had a big heart and an indomitable spirit and was truly a treasure to all who knew her.

Julia was a lifelong Episcopalian and was a member of Grace Chapel Episcopal.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at the Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery.

The family extends sincere thanks to AseraCare Hospice for their competent and compassionate care, which allowed Julia to die in the home she loved for 68 years.
