CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A Clarksville man has been arrested after allegedly fleeing police, crashing his car, and leaving his young daughter at the scene of the crash.

According to an arrest warrant, an officer attempted to stop Wilfredo Valcarcel Ortiz Wednesday around 3 p.m. on the 41A Bypass because he had a rear brake light out.

Valcarcel Ortiz stopped near Denny Rd., but then sped off toward Rotary Park, where he crashed shortly afterward.

Two witnesses told police Valcarcel Ortiz left his 7-year-old daughter in the crashed vehicle and fled the scene on foot.

The young girl was found at the scene with a bleeding arm. She told the officer her father left her there.

A photo taken by a witness helped police determine that the driver was Valcarcel Ortiz.

He was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, lights required, no proof of insurance, evading arrest, child abuse and neglect, driving on a revoked license, and reckless driving. His bond was set at $81,000.
