CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (ESPN CLARKSVILLE) – Clarksville Academy traveled to East Robertson Friday night to take on the Cheatham County Central Cubs in the East Robertson Jamboree.
The Cougars got off to a fast start when sophomore quarterback Bryce Robinson hit fellow sophomore Devon Dillehay on a 64 yard touchdown pass on the second play of the game. Cheatham County then assembled a scoring drive pulling within 1 point to make the game 7-6 in favor of the Cougars. That was as close as they would come.
The next two possessions were capped off by Robinson hitting junior Jason Longwell on a 40 yard TD pass and Longwell again on a 16 yard TD pass. Robinson finished the night 7 of 8 with 168 yards and 3 TDs completing passes to 5 different receivers including seniors Noah Clayton and Eli Norman, and sophomore TJ Jenkins, all in the first quarter.
Dillehay also balanced the Cougars attack carrying the ball 9 times for 69 yards. He finished the night with 139 total yards.
Freshman kicker Nick Whitlow added 3 pat’s and 28 yard field goal. The Cougar’ defense also saw great play from seniors Matt Morris and Will Lankford, and sophomores Caleb Evans and Josh Evans.
Clarksville Academy went on to win 24-14. The Cougars host the Harpeth Indians next Friday night at Simpson Field at 7 p.m.
