MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has released information about a shooting at a home in Cumberland Furnace.
Deputies responded to a 911 call Tuesday around 4 p.m. at 3630 Houston Road in Cumberland Furnace regarding a shooting.
Benjamin Luck, 33, called 911 and said he had shot his wife, according to a press release from MCSO.
Upon arrival, deputies located a shooting victim, Daria Paulina Luck, 35, in the home. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Luck was taken into custody. He has been charged with criminal homicide. Bond was denied.
According to an arrest warrant, Luck told investigators he and his wife had been involved in a domestic dispute and the victim told Luck she intended to kill him. He then retrieved a gun and his wife retrieved a knife.
Luck said he feared for his life and shot his wife multiple times.
The warrant says after the initial shot, the victim was retreating and he continued to fire into what he believed was her back. He said he was unaware if she still had a knife at that time or if she was still a threat.
The victim collapsed on the couch and he did not see a knife in her hands, but shot her again as she was lying there.
The couple’s three young children were in the home at the time of the shooting. They were not harmed during the incident and were taken into custody by DCS and placed in the home of a family friend.
This is an ongoing investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available.
