CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville is home to one of the most critically acclaimed Pink Floyd tribute bands anywhere: American Floyd.

Eventbrite tickets: American Floyd LIVE at APSU, Saturday May 14

“We’re just trying to carry the torch,” said American Floyd founder, Mark Hawkins. This high tech production with an ensemble cast of musicians is a highly theatrical stage show featuring hundreds of lights, multiple lasers and four-wall film projection that is dazzling to the eye.

“You’re not going to see Pink Floyd ever again,” Hawkins said. “Anybody that’s a Pink Floyd fanatic, this is as close as they may ever get to seeing them and that’s our goal.”

The show is one of the few productions anywhere that credibly meets the challenge of creating a Pink Floyd experience.  It is so massive in scope (including construction of a wall) that it can only be staged in a medium to large venue because of its complexity.

The set list includes a sampling from nearly  every Pink Floyd album, from 1973 on, including the epic Dark Side of The Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall and Momentary Lapse of Reason. Songs from another album or two may be added.

Nearly every member of the ten piece band is from Clarksville or has significant connections to the city, which Hawkins said is important for the kind of camaraderie required to perform this show as a celebration.

This  fellowship is perhaps the most striking difference between this tribute band and the acrimony among the members of the actual Pink Floyd. Fans want to hear the songs they say they remember them and experience them at their colorful, psychedelic best.
