You’ve probably seen the magazines highlighting the latest clothing and accessories for fall but let’s talk about fall’s beauty trends. From skin to nails to hair we have the latest on what is trending this fall.
Plummy, wine hues are big for this fall in clothing and in makeup. For eyes look for colors like cranberry, crimson, and garnet, like MAC’s Mauveless shadow ($21). For lips try a merlot or raspberry color which will add a pop to your overall look. Also back for the fall is the infamous cat-eye. We have seen Taylor Swift rock it for years, now it is our turn. But users beware – pairing with an eye shadow other than a nude or earth tone can make you look overdone.
I almost forgot, we must ALWAYS moisturize first. Going from summer to fall your body requires deeper hydration for change in the seasons. Switch from lightweight lotions to thicker ones with more texture to keep your skin from feeling and looking dry. If you’re looking for a great facial cream that will leave your skin feeling radiant and soft try Aveda’s Tourmaline Charged Hydrating Cream ($40). For an all-over body lotion try Kiehl’s Crème de Corps ($18), which quenches skin’s thirst and restores suppleness.
Let’s talk nails. Say goodbye to summer’s soft pinks and crisp whites and hello to fall’s dark and metallic hues for nails. Autumn’s hot nail hues are in dark navies and rich purple and cranberry. Try Essie’s Vested Interest or OPI’s In the Car-Pool Lane. If you would like to add a little sparkle try one of OPI’s metallic polishes like, Cosmo-Not Tonight Honey, or What Wizardry is This.
Now, let’s get to our hair. There are several easy hairstyles that everyone should try for this fall. First, we have the low pony tail. Keep it simple with a middle part or go for a deep side part. If you feel fly-aways are an issue try a light smoothing fluid/serum or light hairspray to tame them. Next is the “Glamour Curls”; use a generous amount of volumizer before winding sections of hair around a small curling iron. Separate curls, tousle, spray, and head out the door. Lastly, we have the braid. Braids are great for when you are having a bad hair day. They are easy and can immediately make you look put-together. Try a fish tail or French braid to make it look interesting.
Enjoy the fall weather that is to come!
