MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. – The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for western Montgomery County through 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

The warning also affects Stewart, Houston, and northwestern Humphreys counties.

One to two inches of rain has already fallen, with one to three more inches likely through the evening.

FLOOD SAFETY TIPS

Some roads may be flooded with additional flooding near streams and low lying areas.

Locations that may experience flooding include Clarksville, Dover, Erin, Indian Mound, Land Between the Lakes, Woodlawn, and Houston County Airport.

A Flood Warning has also been issued for Christian and Trigg counties in Kentucky.

Hopkinsivlle dispatch in Christian County reported around 3 p.m. that standing water had already covered several roads, including John Rives Rd., S. Main, and Little River Church Rd.

Drivers are urged not to drive on roads that are completely flooded as flood waters are usually deeper than they appear. Just one foot of water is powerful enough to sweep vehicles off the road.
