NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lawmakers in the Tennessee State House will discuss a measure Tuesday that would require public school students to use the bathroom assigned to the sex shown on their birth certificate.

WKRN News 2 reports that the bill, referred to as the Transgender Bathroom Bill, would prevent students who are transgender from using the bathroom of their preferred gender identity.

The Education, Administration, and Planning Committee is scheduled to discuss the measure in their 3 p.m. session.

This is the latest of several similar bills recently introduced at state legislatures around the country.
