CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Police Department held a ribbon cutting Wednesday for the City of Clarksville’s new District 1 North Precinct at 211 Cunningham Lane.

The building housing the precinct is located on part of the land that also is home to Minglewood Elementary School. From it’s beginnings the police department and Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools worked together very closely on the project. The property is being leased to the City of Clarksville.

Clarksville Police Chief Al Ansley talked about the new facility. “We’re here to serve the citizens of Clarksville in this building specific to north Clarksville and the Fort Campbell area. I think it’s going to provide many benefits down the road, not only for us but for our citizens that we serve,” said Ansley.

The new building features a lobby and a meeting room on the first floor with areas for patrol officers to work. The second floor offers areas for the detectives to work, a conference room and a well equipped gym for use by officers. Outside the building there is a flagpole with U.S. and Tennessee flags donated by Citizens Police Academy Alumni.

The police department had been working out of other smaller, less adequate locations on Fort Campbell Boulevard over the past few years. Captain David Crockarell will be leading operations out of the new building. “We’re so proud of it. It’s far beyond my expectations and compared to the facility my officers were working out of it’s night and day,” Crockarell said.
