CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A house fire has left a Clarksville family without a home just before Christmas.

According to Fire Marshal Ray Williams, the fire occurred Wednesday between 2 and 3 p.m. at a mobile home at 902 Britton Springs Rd.

The fire started in a dryer in the utility room. The family had left the appliance on while they were at the store.

The couple and their two children were not injured. Williams said the couple is also expecting a third child.

The Red Cross was called in to assist the Johnson family and a GoFundMe account has also been established.

The home sustained a significant amount of smoke damage.

Williams said it is best not leave dryers running if you’re not home.
