CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Feline adoption fees at Montgomery County Animal Care and Control will be greatly reduced during the month of December.

Cats can be adopted for just $12. This includes spay/neuter and required shots.

Tiny Town Veterinarian Clinic has agreed to spay or neuter the cats for free, and another sponsor has stepped up to cover adoption costs.

This special price ends Dec. 31.

Anyone interested in adopting is welcome to visit the facility at 616 North Spring Street to find the right pet.

During the holiday season, many parents adopt animals as presents for their children or other family members, which Director Jeanette Farrell does not recommend.

“I never suggest adopting as a Christmas present. Someone who is interested in owning an animal for a lifetime really needs to bond with that animal. They need to spend time with that animal and decide if it is really the right fit for them, if they are emotionally responsive to them,” she said. “We definitely don’t want impulse adoptions. We’re willing to work with them on finding the right animal.”

Animal Care and Control is currently housing approximately 60 cats and 50 dogs. Adoption fees for dogs are $87 and $37 for dogs that are already spayed or neutered.
