WOODLAWN, Tenn. – A passerby helped save a woman whose vehicle was hanging just above a creek Wednesday evening.
Two cars crashed on Blooming Grove Road shortly before 5 p.m.
Montgomery County Emergency Management Director Jerry Buchanan said one of the vehicles came to rest on the side of the road, and the other, occupied by a female victim, landed in the tree line on a creek bank. Half of the car was on the top of the embankment and the other half was hanging down.
Buchanan said a citizen who was driving by the scene stopped to tie a rope around the woman’s car and then around his truck to keep it from plummeting into the creek until emergency crews arrived.
First responders used a winch to secure the vehicle while tearing the door off to extricate the woman from inside.
She was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment.
Buchanan said the two people in the other vehicle also had to be extricated, and one was flown to Vanderbilt.
Identities of the victim and the Good Samaritan have not been released.
