MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. – An Indian Mound man has been arrested after allegedly leading a sheriff’s deputy on a 25 minute chase.

According to an arrest warrant, a deputy with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office attempted to pull over 25-year-old Jonathan Paul Dennis, who had warrants on file.

Dennis fled in his vehicle, driving 85 mph in a 40 mph zone, according to the deputy.

At the intersection of Fork Landing Road and Coleman Road, Dennis slowed down and two passengers jumped out of the vehicle. He then sped off again.

The deputy said Dennis forced two vehicles off the road and ran a stop sign at the intersection of Rawlings Road and Lylewood Road during the chase.

After a 25 minute pursuit, Dennis exited his vehicle on Hwy 146 in Stewart County and ran on foot before jumping down a 25-foot cliff.

Dennis was then taken into custody and was pepper sprayed after continuing to resist, according to the warrant.

Throughout the course of the chase, Dennis allegedly drove in and out of his lane and toward other vehicles. He had a revoked driver’s license at the time.

The deputy said in his report that Dennis said he was hoping the deputy would crash so he could get away from him.

Dennis was charged with resisting arrest, speeding, not following a stop sign, improper lane use, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, evading arrest, and driving on a revoked license. He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on $120,000 bond.

ClarksvilleNow.com archives show that Dennis has been arrested five other times this year for drugs, theft, and burglary.
