CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A Clarksville woman was arrested Nov. 3 after allegedly leaving her infant son alone in an apartment for 24-48 hours.
An arrest warrant says the baby was found crying alone on the floor, covered in feces and urine.
According to the warrant, police went to the Cobalt Dr. apartment Nov. 1 where a woman told them the infant’s aunt called to check on him.
The aunt has been told by her sister, Brooke Jenkines, that the woman had been watching the child. After hearing this information from the aunt, the woman went to the apartment and could hear the child crying from the parking lot.
When she realized no one was answering the door, she let herself in with a credit card and found the baby on the floor. She told police he was only wearing a t-shirt and a diaper, which was overflowing with feces and urine that covered 3/4 of the child’s back.
The stained shirt was recovered by police, who confirmed the stains covered 3/4 of the back side.
Police believe the infant was left unsupervised for approximately 24 to 48 hours. Jenkines told a DCS Investigator that the child had only been left alone for three and a half hours.
Jenkines was arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse and neglect. Her bond was set at $25,000.
