Sue Y. Powers, age 78, of Clarksville, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015, at St. Thomas West Hospital, in Nashville.
Sue was born August 11, 1937, in Montgomery County, TN, to the late Joe Jefferson Young and Mary Frances Hanley Young. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Joe Eddie Young, Bill Young, and Jimmy Young.
Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, November 4, at 11:00 AM, at Immaculate Concepion Catholic Church, with Father Steve Wolf, Deacon Dominick Azzara, and Rev. James Shepherd officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 3, from 2:00 to 7:00 PM, at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, and Wednesday, November 4, from 10:00 AM until the hour of service, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Sue is survived by her husband of 60 years, John Powers; two sons, Tal (Rhonda) Powers and Pat Powers, both of Clarksville; four daughters, Fran (Gary) Traughber of Elkton, KY, Rebecca Ladd of Clarksville, Teresa (Mark) Richmond of Clarksville, and Mary Wesley (Jimmy) Crotzer of Clarksville; sister, Ann (Bobby) Long; sister-in-law, Judy Young; sixteen grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Sue’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer is Joe Richards.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
