CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- This year marks the 26th year of the Love Lights a Tree campaigns, which raises awareness and funds the American Cancer Society.
Love Lights a tree is a major Clarksville effort to support cancer research. The committee ask community members to recognize and to honor important persons in their lives by donating money to purchase lights in their name for the annual ceremony.
Each year the committee reviews nominations for someone to serve as the honorary chairperson for the campaign and to be recognized at the culminating event. The person considered for this honor has had cancer or is currently being treated for cancer. The nominee may be a child or an adult who is a resident of Montgomery County.
This person will have inspired others by the dignity and fortitude with which the challenge of cancer treatment has been faced. The decision is based on the extent of the individual’s influence on others in the community.
This year’s event, which features the naming of the honorary chairperson and the lighting of the tree, will be held Sunday, December 6, 2015 at 5:00 at Gateway Medical Center.
Nominations should be mailed to Lynne Griffey, 1232 Willow Bend Drive, Clarksville, TN 37043 or lynnegriffeyart@gmail.com by October 22, 2015.
