NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Authorities say a Nashville police officer received minor injuries after his patrol car was hit by a suspected drunk driver on Interstate 24.
According to WKRN-TV, the accident happened early Sunday morning. Authorities say the officer, who has not been identified, was responding to a crash when a sports utility vehicle struck the driver’s side of his patrol car, then flipped and caught on fire.
The officer and another driver sustained minor injuries.
The suspected drunk driver, who also has not been named, was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Authorities say he will be charged with driving under the influence.
