TRIGG COUNTY, Ky. (WKRN) – It was another amazing turnout Wednesday to honor fallen Kentucky State Police Trooper Joseph Ponder.

The Trigg County Sheriff’s Department hosted a vigil where an estimated 600 people attended.

There was a sea of blue lights to honor the fallen trooper; 97 officers took part.

Another symbolic gesture was the release of 954 balloons in Ponder’s honor. His badge number was 954.

Several of Ponder’s family members also attended the vigil.

The 31-year-old was shot to death after a traffic stop went awry. The suspect was later shot and killed by authorities.
